Exhuma is a South Korean supernatural horror that follows a family’s journey to rid themselves of an evil curse. When the newborn baby of a wealthy Korean American family shows signs of a mysterious illness, they enlist the help of the renowned Korean shaman, Hwa-rim (Kim Go-eun), and her protégé, Bong-gil (Lee Do-hyun). Upon observation, the pair quickly discover something referred to as a “Grave’s Call,” which means the spirit of a vengeful ancestor is haunting them.
Desperate to rid themselves of the curse, Park Ji-yong (Kim Jae-cheol), the patriarch of the family, entrusts the shaman to relocate the ancestor’s grave in an effort to appease his spirit. However, after enlisting her colleagues, a Feng shui master named Kim Sang-deok (Choi Min-sik) and a mortician named Yeong-geun (Yoo Hae-jin), everyone realizes their solution won’t be as simple as they initially thought.

The Devil’s Bath is a horror film that follows a young woman named Agnes (Anja Plaschg) who marries a stranger from another village in Upper Austria in 1750. In the unfamiliar world of her new husband, she increasingly grows lonely and more alienated as the days pass. A devout and emotional woman, Agnes continues to isolate herself from the rural life and the communal work expected of her. At odds with her mother-in-law due to her lack of traditional domesticity, she ultimately finds an escape from her anguish and inner torment by committing a horrific act of violence.
Written and directed by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, the film is a German-language co-production between Austria and Germany. A timely examination of mental illness that translates surprisingly well to modern times, The Devil’s Bath offers viewers a horrific and gloomy view of one woman’s path toward the rising evil thoughts that eventually consume her. Based on historical records but not specific events, the film captures the debilitating symptoms that arise from the boughs of depression that ultimately manifest as a disease. The Devil's Bath is streaming on AMC+ on June 28.
